Cheques as casino payment option
Filed Under Casino | Leave a Comment
Hitting that elusive big jackpot is surely the favorite dream of casino players. However, many people don’t know what options the casino will use in how to pay out a jackpot. If the jackpot is under $5,000 an attendant will usually verify the jackpot and then get your winnings. In the case of a larger or progressive jackpot a casino technician will generally verify that the machine was working properly when you hit the jackpot. If you strike it rich on a progressive machine, such as Megabucks, then a representative of the company will validate the jackpot before giving you a cheque.
One thing you can count on is that very sizeable jackpots will almost always be paid by cheque. Huge payouts like Megabucks are usually issued as a partial amount. You are then given the option of a lump sum or annuity on the remaining amount. The most common of casino payment methods practiced by multi-million dollar jackpots like Megabucks is an initial cheque payment for a partial amount followed by either a lump sum or an annuity on the balance depending on what the winner decides on after 90 days.

How to ascertain horses’ winning potential in the paddock?
Filed Under Betting, Tips on Gambling | Leave a Comment
If you make your bets right from the racetrack you should always try to view the horses in the paddock. This is a great way to get specific information on specific horses so be prepared to take notes. For instance, do you notice any of the horses wearing a tongue tie or nasal strip? These items may boost the horse into a winner but you won’t see them in the equipment changes. However, for this information to be of any value you have to retain it so be sure to take notes and indicate which horse they are about.
Other things to look at in the paddock are the body language and behavior of the jockey and the trainer. Do they seem excited about the race or are they just going through the motions? Either of these attitudes could be evidence of a sure winner or an also-ran. Lastly focus on the behavior of the horse. Does it seem nervous or relaxed? Horses reveal their mood before the race for those observant enough to observe the signs. Looking at the horse also gives you a chance to determine its physical condition.
The primary reason for taking paddock notes is to put you at an advantage over anyone else betting that day. When the winning edge is very small, taking good paddock notes can, over time, help you develop into a consistent winner.

How do you read poker players?
Filed Under Poker | Leave a Comment
When you want to get serious about playing better poker one indispensable skill you want to develop is being able to read the other players. In the lingo of poker, the “tell” is the player’s reaction to his or her hand. To learn how to recognize the tell you need to carefully observe the body language, gestures or anything else that may clue you in to whether they have a good or a bad hand. Being able to read the tell of the other players can help turn an ordinary night of poker into a winning one.
Here are some common behaviors that indicate a good hand:
Acting uninterested but staying in the game. Most players will try to conceal any excitement when they know they have an excellent hand. Also watch to see if anyone at the table bets with a shaking hand, this too indicates that they have something good in their cards. Another way in which other players betray a great hand is by breathing rapidly. Sighing, shrugging or casually saying “I call” is also an indication of a good hand. When players have a good hand they will also often look quickly at their chips to calculate their bet.

Government cut in casinos
Filed Under Casino | Leave a Comment
So you scored a jackpot at the casino and are feeling on cloud nine. Enjoy that feeling while you can as Uncle Sam wants his share too. The going rate for the IRS is to dip into 30 percent of your casino windfall. How your casino winnings are taxed are also further determined by how much lady luck let you win at the table or how much that slot machine you had been pouring money into all day finally coughed up. Your taxes are further refined by how much you won, what type of gambling you won at, and the ratio of your winnings to the amount that you bet.
Part of what these rules stipulate is that it may not be necessary for you to pay a whole thirty percent of your take, depending upon how that ratio of how much you won versus what you lost. And, in some instances when your money bet is greater than how much you won you may not be required to pay any tax. However, you are still required to report your total winnings to the IRS. They will then make the final determination as to how much tax you will have to pay. It is your duty, still, that you should inform IRS about your total income and winning. This body is responsible for letting you know how much portion is to be charged as tax.

River-deck casinos
Filed Under Casino | Leave a Comment
River-deck casinos have become increasingly popular in the United States in recent years. In modern times the first state to open a river-deck casino was Iowa, when that state’s legislature passed legislation permitting them in 1989. Other states that now allow river-deck casinos to operate include Illinois, Mississippi, Louisiana, India and Missouri.
Most of these river-deck casinos cruise on major rivers such as the Mississippi, Des Plaines, Ohio and Illinois rivers. However, some river-deck casinos are permanently moored. In fact, Mississippi requires that all its river-deck casinos be permanently docked on barges, with gangplank access provided for customers. Each state that currently allows river-deck casinos to operate has its own specific rules prescribing such aspects as the hours of operation, locations, number of licenses issued, types of gambling to be allowed, and whether or not gambling may take place before the riverboat begins to move.

Is poker gambling?
Filed Under Gambling, Poker | Leave a Comment
This is a serious question as it involves the future of one of the most popular card games. Poker may be termed gambling on a superficial level owing to the risks involved and the money it generates. However, there is more to it than meets the eye.
Refined poker strategies, bluffing, other deceptions and flexibility give an edge to a particular player if he follows them by rote. In that sense, fairness pervades over the game. Poker becomes more of an enchanting sport than a gambling option.
However, if that is the case, then why do losers far outweigh winners? This is a question of relative ability and fortitude. No one is going to win all, as in most games. Trick is to win more than the rest.
It doesn’t serve to ask for answers either from seasoned player or rookie. The former is too much in love to term it gambling; latter too high in loss to call it sport.

How to hit the jackpot?
Filed Under Betting | Leave a Comment
Jackpot is the big daddy of horse racing. After all, it is no child’s play to solve the jackpot, especially if one has limited means.
Jackpot is solved when one rightly predicts winners in five races chosen by racing authorities for the day. In general, it is sequential and constitutes last five races. Jackpot pools give the picture of enthusiastic eagerness in cracking the jackpot.
A straight jackpot will cost the lowest denomination. In that case, it obviously becomes more of a lottery. Seasoned players don’t pick their winners, but cut off those who can’t win. They keep the rest in their initial draft continuing the same theory for all jackpot races.
Then they count the total investment. If they are far short of it, they begin to eliminate those with lesser chances. If one has a banker in one or two races, it helps a great deal in keeping jackpot investment down to a logical minimum.
